David Paige Jones, 81, of Oshkosh passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at Theda Care Appleton Medical Center of lung cancer. David was born on September 17, 1940, at home at Paynes Point, Neenah to Wayne R and Ruby A (Richardson) Jones. He attended Oshkosh High School and Apprentice School in Oshkosh. He served in Vietnam as a Navy Seabee E-5 from 1966 to 1968. He married Lynnette (Kopidlansky) Loberger on August 4, 1979.
He worked in the paint industry for over 50 years starting out as a painter with Klinger Painting and then into sales for the industrial and commercial business and finally as a consultant. He worked for Pittsburgh Paints, Glidden Company, as partner at Valley Coatings and then with Hallman-Lindsay retiring at age 74.
He loved spending weekends at the family cabin in Florence County playing cribbage matches and sitting around the campfire with family and friends with his Smirnoff along with hunting and fly fishing. He played fast pitch for Tommy’s Angels and various leagues in Green Bay as well as on pool leagues. He especially enjoyed watching baseball and college football games, but his great love was playing golf, playing in different states while travelling visiting family and friends. His hobbies included doing woodworking along with home improvement projects.
David will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 42 years, Lynnette Jones; his daughter, Kim (Bill Harron) Kramer; sons: Andrew (Carrie Luedtke) Jones, stepsons; Craig (Nancy) Loberger and Wade (Melissa Putzer) Loberger; sisters: Nancy (Luke) Rowland of Georgia, Sally Merten, Barbara Von Hoff; sister-in-law, Dorothy Jones; brothers-in-law: Arthur Pommerening, Dale (Kathy) Kopidlansky and Don (Lynn) Kopidlansky; grandsons: Cody (Erin Manthei) Jones, Matthew Jones, Nicholas (Mandy Meinten) Loberger; great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Loberger; and many nieces, nephews, dear friends and his feline, Lexi.
He was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father in-law, Frank and Margaret Kopidlansky; son, Tracy Jones; brothers: Robin Jones, Gary Jones; sisters: Virginia Pommerening, Suzanne Steiner; brothers-in-law: Douglas Von Hoff, James Kopidlansky; nephew, Artie Pommerening; and his furry children.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 7, 2021, at St. Raphael the Archangel Parish, 830 S Westhaven Dr., Oshkosh. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until time of mass. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Kellnersville, WI.
