David Ray Rothe

February 4, 1940 — April 13, 2009

David R. Rothe, 69, of Oshkosh died Monday April 13, 2009 at Aurora Medical Center. He was born February 4, 1940 in Oshkosh a son of Clarence and Mabel (Thompson) Rothe. David married Barb Nitkowski on March 18, 1961 in Oshkosh. David was a member of Bethlehem Ev. Lutheran Church, where he was very active and was a former trustee, and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a volunteer for Passport at Mercy Medical Center and for Meals On Wheels. David was an avid photographer and enjoyed the outdoors. He is survived by his wife Barb of Oshkosh; two sons Troy (Beth) Rothe of Oshkosh and Ray (Lisa) Rothe of Rapid City, SD; a daughter Renee (John) Gee of Oshkosh; eleven grandchildren Ryan (fiance Krystal), Christopher, Garrett, Alycia, Briana, Sawyer, Samantha, Stephen, Melissa, Amanda, Savanna, and Chloe. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Paula. A memorial service for David will be held Friday April 17, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Bethlehem Ev. Lutheran Church, Rev. Paul Lidtke officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday at the church from 3-6 PM and Friday at the church from 10 AM until the service. Davids family would like to thank the nurses and staffs at Aurora VNA Hospice, Lombardi Cancer Clinic, and Aurora Medical Center ICU. They would also like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Steve Blaha.
