David Thomas Underwood

On November 9th David Underwood passed away in Oshkosh, WI.He was born on the evening of November 19, 1978, to his loving parents Thomas and Melissa Underwood. In addition to his parents, David is survived by his younger brother Matt and sister-in-law Chong, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.David graduated from Oshkosh West High School where he played trumpet and learned to appreciate music and philosophy through many in-depth discussions with his music teacher. After high school he attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison pursuing majors in philosophy and anthropology. At the time of his passing David was employed by UPS as their international supervisor.To those who knew him, Davids hallmarks of compassion, intelligence, and personal pride were always evident. Just below the surface David maintained a fine-tuned and wry sense of humor that could breakout at any moment. Now remembering him, we hear his laugh and see his smile.David thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors and was particularly fond of hiking. Sometimes alone, but often with his brother and sister-in-law, David was working on walking the entire Ice Age Trail in Wisconsin. Never one to stop at thats good enough, David sought the optimal in all he encountered and did whether that was food, music, movies, crossword puzzles, in-depth conversations, or his position with UPS. David had a love of nature, a gentle soul, and a love for cats.A gathering of family and friends will be held on December 10 from 1-3pm, with a memorial service at 1:30pm, at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home, 100 Lake Pointe Drive, Oshkosh, WI 54904. A memorial is being established for David.
