Della Mae Sluga

Della M. Sluga, age 53, of Oshkosh , died Tuesday December 20, 2011 at her residence. D was born on September 22, 1958 in Hillsboro , Wi., a daughter of Richard and Sylvia Marshall Todd. She grew up with her three siblings exploring the hills, caves, and creeks that surround Elroy,Wi. She was the self proclaimed best frog catcher and was known to borrow horses from her neighbors to raise in her garage. As a young lady she had her dream job of working at the horse ranch in Winneconne. In 1976 she married Tom Switlick who adopted her son Jimmi. After a peaceful separation from Tom she buckled down put herself through nursing school and then married her soul mate Larry Sluga Sr. on August 4, 1990. Together they put six kids through high school often packing all six plus a couple friends into the cab of the truck to take them to Omro High from their home in Poy Sippi. She worked her way up to head of pediatrics at Mercy Medical Center. When the kids were grown she moved back to the hills of southwestern Wisconsin and worked with Country Nurses as a traveling nurse in the Madison area. Most recently she became a member of Community Church and enjoyed gardening, rug hooking and her grandchildren.She is survived by her husband Larry, two sons James Jimmi Todd(Raechel Derber), Joshua Morman, one daughter Jennie(Craig) Todd Armogida, two step-sons Larry Sluga Jr., Ryan Sluga, her grandchildrden Riley, Jackson, Averey, Madisyn, Trey, Blaze, Nicholas, Dylan, Jacob, one brother Earl Todd, two sisters Penny(Dale) Schmid, Sue Stibbe, and her niece Missy Todd.She was preceded in death by her parents, a nephew Dustin Herring, Lenore Switlick and Tom O (Larrys Husband-in-law).A memorial service for Della will be held on Friday December 30, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Homes-Westside with Rev. Alan Cleveland officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday at the funeral home from 4:30 p.m. until the time of the service.A memorial has been established.The family would like to thank Pastor Alan Cleveland, special friends Kate(Butch) Petermann, and Terry Carpenter, Affinity Hospice, her nurse Cherly, and Deb and Mark Montag for the exceptional loving care and support they gave to D during her courageous battle.
