Dennis R. Bauman, 86, Oshkosh, passed away with his family by his side, Friday, December 11, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center. He was born August 2, 1929, in the Town of Wein, son of Henry and Mathilda (Hoernke) Bauman. Dennis was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in the Korean War. He married Patricia Mary Pagel on September 29, 1956, in Wausau, WI, where they lived for a year before relocating to Wauwatosa. Dennis was a barber and followed his passion wherever it took him for 65 years. After a few years of being near Milwaukee, Dennis and Patti relocated with their two daughters to Oshkosh, calling this their home in 1973. Dennis was past commander of the American Legion Post #70, Oshkosh, and Post #219 in Milwaukee. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, Lakeshore Club, and past president of the TPA (Travelers Protective Association). He enjoyed being active whenever he could, including playing Santa Claus at many stores throughout the years. Dennis loved to fish, golf, and travel with Patti and friends. Dennis was a member of First English Lutheran Church, Oshkosh. Dennis is survived by his wife, Patricia Patti; daughter, Deb Stang; son-in-law, Timothy (Ann) Deacy; three grandchildren: Danielle (Nathan) Potratz, Bethany Deacy, and Ryan (fianc Brittny) Deacy; two great granddaughters: Emma and Lucy Potratz; sisters-in-law: Linda (Ralph) Nass and Betty (Gordon) Bauman Metcalf; a brother-in-law, Gerald (Joyce) Pagel; many nieces and nephews; many special friends including: Joe, Clete, Clarence, Harley, Oscar, and Don.He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Denise Deacy; a son-in-law, Bruce Stang; brothers: Elmer (Emma), Lester, Carl, and infant brother, Rueben. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 14, 2015, at Lake View Memorial Park, 2786 Algoma Blvd, Oshkosh, with Rev. Tim Greenwald officiating. Entombment will follow. Visitation will be in the chapel from 1:00 p.m. Monday until the time of the service.
