Devona May Ecklor

Devona M. Ecklor, 79, of Oshkosh died Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at Park View Health Center. Devona was born July 2, 1933 in Oshkosh a daughter of the late Fredrick and Violet Binder. She married Lavern Ecklor on August 5, 1950 and he preceded her in death on January 21, 2011. She worked at Winnebago Mental Health Institute for 35 years in Nursing Service. The last 12 years she was an A. O. D. A. Counselor, which she was very proud of. She said it was the best 12 years working with the drug kids being their Mamma Dee! She enjoyed her time spent at their cabin The Poo Poo, in Popple River, WI. In earlier days she and Vern did much traveling throughout the U.S. and Germany, they also enjoyed camping in their trailer. She enjoyed baking and cooking and was always giving her baked goods away. She was a member of the Lady Elks and always put everyone else, including family and friends, before herself. Her joys the past years of her life were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She especially treasured visits of her great-grandchildren. Devona is survived by her daughter, Wanda (Pat) Strange; a son, Chuck Ecklor; grandchildren, Jason (Amie) Strange, Paul (Neke) Ecklor, and Amy Ecklor; and great-grandchildren, Hunter and Levi Strange and Jordyn and Brenya Ecklor. A funeral service for Devona will be held Friday September 7, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside, Rev. Tom McFarland officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until the service. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park. A memorial is being established. The family wishes to thank Park View Health Center (Parkside 1), words can not express the gratitude of the dedicated staff who took care of her this past year. We also want to thank her friend, Lisa, for her dedicated friendship to Dee over the years and the many visits. Also, we want to thank her friend, Donna, who spent countless hours at Park View, just being her friend and spending time with her. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts, this year has been difficult for the family. Mom, you are at peace now and we love you very much!
