Dolores Marie Gastorf

May 15, 1921 — June 11, 2018

Dolores M. Gastorf, age 97, of Oshkosh, WI, died on June 11, 2018, at Evergreen Retirement Community.
She married Roy E. Gastorf on May 26, 1943, in St. Louis, MO. Roy preceded her in death on May 6, 1995. Dolores is “dancing to Stardust” with Roy in heaven – what a happy reunion for them both.
She was a member at St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church in Oshkosh, WI, a volunteer Eucharistic Minister to the Homebound, a Prayer-Chain ministry participant, a Hospice volunteer, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary #75 Trier-Puddy in Fond du Lac, WI.
Dolores’ greatest joys in life were her faith and her family, tickled with each new baby that came along. She made their lives so happy, giggly, and full of love, and was an endearing example of how to be a kind and thoughtful person above all else. She will be remembered in every vegetable harvested, every loaf of zucchini bread and chocolate chip cookie baked, every stitch sewn, every piano piece played, every corny joke told, and every family game night.
She is survived by two daughters, Karen (Robert) Manning, of Vero Beach, FL, and Joyce (Thomas) Griffin of Punta Gorda, FL; one son, Robert (Debbie) Gastorf of Kingwood, TX; nine grandchildren, Thomas (Sally) Griffin, Katherine (Randy) Young, Ryan (Rhonda) Griffin, Daniel (Valerie) Griffin, Michael (Ashley) Griffin, John (Nicki) Griffin, Theodore (Amanda) Manning, Peter Muniz, and Theresa (Chris) Green; 17 great-grandchildren, Charley, Finnegan, Oliver, Conor, Liam, Ella, Juliana, Irelyn, Natalie, Cooper, Indy, Patrick, Grayson, Lily, Taylor, Bryce and Maycee; one sister-in-law, Patricia Gastorf; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and sweet Murphy, Joyce’s dog, who affectionately visited Dolores daily and misses her already.
Preceding her in death were one sister, Rose (Cyril) Beckring; one brother, Deacon Francis (Alice) Droesch; and in-laws Jack (Jerry) Gastorf, Richard Gastorf, and Doris (John) Drury.
Private family services were held.
The family extends a special thank you to the entire staff at Evergreen Retirement Community for their tender-hearted care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be directed to these organizations in Oshkosh, WI: Evergreen Retirement Community, that little slice of heaven where Dolores took much comfort and pride in calling home, and whose entire loving staff treated her as tenderly as if she were their own Mom; the Jesuit Retreat House, where Dolores cherished her time refreshing her soul on her annual retreats; St. Raphael the Archangel Parish, whose volunteers faithfully visited her weekly with Holy Communion and friendly chats, and sent her flowers without fail every Christmas and Easter; and Franciscan Courts, where she would distribute communion to the retired Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother, whose sweet smiles held a special place in her heart .
