Donald Clyde La Point

Donald C. La Point, passed away on Friday October 14, 2005 at Mercy Medical Center at the age of 93. He was born in Marshfield, November 22, 1911, the son of Melvin and Madge (Flanigan) La Point. Donald married Lucille Eichmann on June 21, 1940 in Oshkosh, they celebrated 65 years of marriage this past June.Donald came to Oshkosh at an early age and has lived here since. Donald was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, a member of the Fox Valley Retirees Sub Chapter #51, American Association of Retired Persons, Volunteer People of Peace Lutheran Church, First English Neighborhood Center, and Musician Local 46. Donald loved to sing solos at different churches, fish, go hunting, and have beautiful flower gardens, and he enjoyed watching Green Bay Packer games at his sons house. Donald worked 37 years for Mondl Manufacturing CO, and at Winnebago Mental Health Institute for almost 11 years before retiring in 1976. He played with different bands in the Oshkosh area as a bass viol player for many years.Donald is survived by his wife, Lucille, one daughter, Leanne McHugh of Winneconne, and one son, Neil (Gail) La Point of the town of Omro, a sister, Vera Eder of Oshkosh; a granddaughter, Elizabeth (Keith) Kupahl of Greenville; five great-grandchildren, Joshua, Meghan, Hailey, Courtney, and Kelsie, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Dale, Russell and Carvel, and a sister, Virginia Olson.Funeral service for Donald will be held on Monday October 17, 2005 at 7:30 pm at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home ? Eastside with Rev. Ralph Hanusa officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4:30 pm until the hour of service. Burial will be at Peace Lutheran Cemetery.Donalds family would like to thank the staff at Mercy Medical Center, Affinity Visiting Nurses, and Pleasant Acres for their care and compassion.
