Donald "Donnie" R. Nelson, Jr.

Donald "Donnie" R. Nelson Sr. age 79 of Oshkosh, passed away at Aurora Medical Center on Monday January 15, 2024. He was born on April 30, 1944 to the late Earl and Eleanor (Friedrich) Nelson.

Donald retired from Mercury Marine after 30 years there, a proud US Navy veteran, devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend. Before his health made activities all but impossible he enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, but above all he enjoyed spending time with friends and loved ones discussing current events & "solving" world issues. Don was loved by many, as he was always there for people in their time of need, helping in any way he could. He was not an open feelings guy, but for those that really knew him they knew his heart was pure gold, and enormous.

Donald is survived by his loving ex-wife and mother of his children Darlene, his children Debbi, Jean, and Donnie Jr(Tania), his grandchildren Tyanne, Breonah, Rayanna, greatgrandchildren Piper, Xander, Zoey. His siblings Ron, John, Steven (Toby), Earl, and Patsy, and countless extended family & loved ones.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Jerry, and his sisters Judy and Sharon.

A funeral service will be held for Donnie on Saturday January 27th, 2024 at 11 am at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home Eastside, 402 Waugoo Ave, Oshkosh, visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9-11 am. Burial with military honors at Lake View Memorial Park will be held immediately after the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Donnie’s name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
