Donald Erick Meyer

Lifetime Oshkosh area resident Donald E. Meyer, 83, passed away in Milwaukee on April 22 after a brief bout with cancer. Mr. Meyer, who married Doris Weideman, also of Oshkosh, in 1948, owned and operated an accounting firm with offices in Oshkosh and Ripon until the mid 1990s when he retired and sold the business which continues to operate today as David L. OConnell & Associates Accounting & Tax Service. Additionally, Mr. Meyer and his wife, who passed away in 1999, were certified hypnotherapists and operated the Feeling Fine Hypnosis Center in Oshkosh. The Meyer family briefly relocated to Birmingham, Alabama in the 1970s where Mr. Meyer ran DJ Ranches, Ltd., a livestock venture.Awarded the Special Diploma from the Government of France, Mr. Meyer was a recipient of the Purple Heart Award from the United States Army for his service during WWII (1942-45) having fought in the Battle of the Bulge and other significant European campaigns. Throughout his life, Donald enjoyed bowling, trapshooting, and was an avid Packers, Cubs, and Brewers fan.Donald Meyer is survived by son Kent (Sheila Kessler) of Stevens Point, WI; daughters Terri (Ed) Meyers of Addison, IL and Lori (Reginald Raibon) Meyer of Greenfield, WI; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.In appreciation of the splendid care Donald received from Vitas Hospice, memorials to Vitas Charitable Foundation or the American Cancer Society are suggested in lieu of flowers.A memorial gathering will be on Monday, April 28, 2008 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home (Eastside) with Military Honors to follow. Inurnment will be in Lake View Memorial Park.
