Donald E. Troudt, age 80, of Oshkosh was called to his eternal home on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at his residence, with his beloved wife and a gracious niece at his side. He was born Sept. 16, 1932 in Oshkosh, one of seven sons of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Eichorn) Troudt.Upon graduation from Oshkosh High, Don enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served honorably for four years during the Korean Conflict. Returning to Oshkosh he enrolled at Wisconsin State College, taking advantage of the G.I. Bill. Majoring in math and history, he became a teacher of mathematics in Elkhart Lake, Omro, Oshkosh at Webster Stanley, and the Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton. Further education was a Masters of Science from Stout State University retiring from FVTC Oshkosh Campus in 1997.During his college years he met Mary J. Hupke, being married at St. Martin Lutheran Church, Clintonville, WI in June of 1959. They spent nearly 54 years happily in Oshkosh, both being teachers.Don enjoyed bowling, fishing, golfing, playing cribbage, and upon retirement attending ship reunion vacations with shipmates of the USS Latimer, as well as many memorable travels with Toms Christian Tours. He also spent many happy years entertaining family gatherings, especially at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and backyard summer birthday grilling events. Additionally he looked forward to the Troudt Family Reunion with the horseshoe tournament and fellowship.He was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran church serving as an usher, member of the council, and church treasurer for many years.Don was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Harry (Hilda), Roy, Harold (June), Lloyd (Geraldine & Faye Ann), and Robert Troudt. His memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Mary; brother, Joseph (Judy) Troudt; sisters-in-law, Beverly Troudt and Marceil Troudt; brothers-in-law, William (Eudine) Hupke, Edward (Myra) Phillips, Richard (Kay & Nancy) Koeppen; a precious aunt, Mrs. Chester Ensign; many treasured cousins, nieces, nephews, adored grand nieces and nephews; along with numerous friends.Christian burial will be conducted by Pastor David F. Pagel at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 338 N. Eagle St., Oshkosh, on Saturday June 1, 2013, with visitation from 12 oclock until the hour of service at 1 oclock p.m. In lieu of floral tributes, a memorial is being established for the churchs organ fund.Heartfelt thanks are given to the Aurora Health Care staff and especially the Aurora VNA for their very dedicated and tender care.Konrad-Behlman Funeral home assisted with the arrangements and interment at Lake View Memorial Park.
