Donald K. Mayer

Donald K Mayer, 71, of Oshkosh, unexpectedly passed away peacefully of natural causes on Feb 25th, 2022. Don was born in Marshfield, WI on April 1, 1950. He graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1968. 
In 1969, Don served 1 tour in the Vietnam War in the US Marine Corps. When he returned he worked for Kohler Company until he joined the Wisconsin State Patrol in 1980. Over the next 23 years, he served the people of Wisconsin while assigned to 3 different counties.
 In December 1971 he married Elizabeth (Betty) Heus of New Holstein, WI.In 1993 he remarried to Doreen Hansen (Nickel) of Waupaca, WI. He was an animal lover his whole life. You’d also find him exercising, rappelling or at the gun range during his free time.
He was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Florence Mayer as well as his wife Doreen Mayer. 
He is survived by his brother Peter (Doreen Kopp)  Mayer and children Derek (Jessica) Mayer, Ginger (Pete) Hoffman, Justin D (Theresa) Mayer, Christopher Justin (Miranda) Mayer; his stepson Brandon Koehl; his grandchildren Natalie(15), Evelyn(13), Jacob (8), Madelyn (8), Jax (7), Theodore (6), Silas (3). 
Arrangements will be held at Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church at 1526 Algoma Blvd in Oshkosh on Sat March 5. A public viewing starting at 10AM will immediately precede a funeral service at 11AM.
