Donald N Denow

Donald N. Denow, 87 of Oshkosh died on Friday morning, May 29, 2009 at Bethel Home with his family by his side. Don was born in Oshkosh on April 7, 1922, a son of the late Emil and Lillie Woller Denow. Don married Ruth Gafner on December 16, 1950 in Oshkosh.Don served his country in the Army Air Corps, the 77th Fighter Squadron, 20th Fighter Group attached to the 8th Air Force, during WWII from 1942-1945. He was passionate about about learning and sharing his WWII knowledge. He managed the Sherwin-Williams Paint Store in Oshkosh for 39 years until his retirement. Following his retirement, Don enjoyed the game of golf and loved to spend time with his grandchildren.Survivors include his wife, Ruth of Oshkosh; son, Thomas Denow, Oshkosh; daughter, Susan (Michael) Seipel, San Ramon, CA; two grandchildren, Shawna (Dr. Tommy) Percival, San Antonio, TX and Adam Seipel, San Ramon, CA; niece Mary Kay Brockman, Fond du Lac and nephew, Michael Brockman, Arizona. He is further survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Fred Gafner, Spokane, WA; Helen Lord Burr, Oshkosh; Arnold (Marge) Gafner, Mesa, AZ; and Florence Dickey, Oshkosh; and many nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and brother-in-law, Marian and Lee Brockman. Funeral services will be on Monday, June 1, 2009 at Noon in Emmanuel United Church of Christ (1306 Michigan St.) with Rev. Linda Kuhn officiating. Family and friends may call at the church on Monday from 10:00 AM to the time of service at Noon. Interment will be at Lake View Memorial Park with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, a memorial to Emmanuel United Church of Christ has been established. The family would like to thank Hospice and all the doctors, medical staff, and caregivers that helped during his illnesses.
