Donna J. Hawley, 79, Oshkosh, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2018, at her home, with her family by her side. Donna was born April 27, 1938, in Illinois, daughter of Fredrick and Dorothy (Stead) Schmidt. She married Jerry Hawley and they shared 63 years of wonderful marriage together. Donna was loved by so many people, whether they knew her as Miss Donna from her teaching days at Jack and Jill prep school, or they met her at JCPenney, she was always smiling. Donna was a classy and fashionable lady, always adorning her jewelry. She enjoyed her time with the ‘sewing club’, at which time she would leave the house for several hours, and return with her nails done, and no sewn projects to show for. Donna will be heavily missed by her family; her husband Jerry, who referred to her as Donna Jo, and children Cathy Cartwright, Cheryl (Kevin) Messerschmidt, Terry (Tracy), and Richard (Lynn). Her grandchildren: Lisa (Matthew) Pennau, Erica (Steve) Greis, Adrienne (Collin) Hayes, Mike (Tiffany) Messerschmidt, Matt (Renee) Messerschmidt, Josh (Shonda) Messerschmidt, Mitchell and Sam Hawley, and Erica (Shawn) Szesterniak; 10 great grandchildren, soon to be 11; sisters: Linda Lind and Joyce (Kenny) Thill; brothers: Charles (Raedean) Schmidt and Danny (Cindy) Schmidt; sisters-in-law: Carol Schmidt and Betty (Carl) Weber; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Dr. Ken Cartwright; brothers: Rick and Duane (Jackie); a sister, Jeanette (Lowell) Hager; brothers-in-law: Robert Hawley and Marvin Lind.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2018, at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside, 100 Lake Pointe Drive, Oshkosh with Karen Jewell officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. noon until the time of the service. Casual attire is requested, please, and a memorial is being established.
