Doris Caroline Burch

Doris Burch, 91, of Oshkosh, WI passed away Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Evergreen Nursing Home from complications of a stroke. She was born in Milwaukee, WI on May 6, 1925 to the late Carl and Hazel (Fischer) Suhrbier. Doris married Ronald Burch on September 6, 1947 and they enjoyed 51 years together.Growing up in Milwaukee, Doris loved playing saxophone in a school marching band and held various jobs including working for Robert W. Baird. After marriage, she became a wonderful homemaker and raised a son and daughter. Upon moving to Oshkosh, WI in 1971 for her husbands work, Doris joined Newcomers, Homemakers, Post Scripts, Womans Club and in later years, 20th Century Club. She enjoyed the meetings and learned many interesting things, which she shared with her daughter. Doris loved sewing and cooking and was excellent at both. She loved traveling and took many enjoyable trips with her husband and daughter. Doris also enjoyed attending her sons bluegrass band concerts. When Doris could no longer travel, she spent many hours enjoying TV shows with her daughter.While Doris body was giving way to old age, her mind was not. Until the stroke, she was still balancing checkbooks and gathering paperwork for the taxes. Doris was a kind person (sometimes too kind) and all who have met her felt that kindness. Survivors include a son James (Martha) Burch of West Bend, WI, and a daughter Donna Burch of Oshkosh, WI. She is further survived by nieces and nephews and their children. Doris was preceded in death by a sister Nancy Suhrbier, her parents, a special aunt Myrtle Hinkforth and her loving husband Ron.Services for Doris will be at Graceland Cemetery, Milwaukee, WI on June 30, 2016. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the time of service at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice in Doris memory.
