Doris Ione Liptow

Doris Liptow, age 92, passed away peacefully at Aurora Medical Center Monday December 9, 2013. Doris was born April 13, 1921, the daughter of Jacob and Edna Waite Henning.Doris attended Oakdale School in the town of Vinland. She graduated from Ripon High School in 1939. In 1942 she graduated from Oshkosh State Teachers College and in 1964 from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh with a Bachelors of Science Degree in upper elementary education.Doris began her teaching career in a one room school house in West Rosendale. On cold days she would arrive at the school house early to start a fire in the wood burning stove so the school would be warm for the students.On August 2, 1947, Doris married Lloyd Liptow, they were married for 54 years. Lloyd passed away May 2001. Lloyd and Doris moved to Oshkosh after they were married. Doris continued her teaching career at Snell School and Winnebago School in the town of Oshkosh, and then at Winneconne School System. She retired in 1980 after 34 years of teaching.Doris was a member of Wisconsin Education Association, The National Education Association, and a life long member of Algoma Boulevard United Methodist Church.She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Robert Brandenstein; and several nieces and nephews.Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd; one sister, Olive Ruechel; and two brothers, Kenneth and Russell Henning.Funeral services for Doris will be held Friday December 13, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside, Rev. Barry Yarbro officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the service. Memorials can be made to the Algoma Boulevard United Methodist Church.The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Sharehaven for their kind and loving care of Doris these past four years.Mom you taught me so much; I will miss you!
