Dorothy Bernice Davis, 90, 455 West Smith Avenue, Oshkosh, died on March 13, 2013 at Evergreen Manor. Mrs. Davis is survived by her son Michael Tomczyk and five grandsons; Christopher, Michael, Justin, James, and Eric. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Rita Mason. Dorothy was born Dorothy Seidler in Berlin, Wisconsin on August 22, 1922 and moved to Oshkosh with her family. She was the youngest of six children. As a child she participated in school shows and was a talented singer. After high school, she moved to Chicago where she pursued a singing career under her stage name Mickey Martin. She was a popular headline singer with big bands in Chicago until 1950 when she returned to Wisconsin.During the 1950s she continued her singing career with regional bands in the Midwest and appeared with the Johnny Nugent band and on Tony Winters weekly radio show. In the late 1950s she began a career in nursing at Winnebago State Hospital, where she retired after more than 25 years of distinguished service.She maintained her interest in music and performing throughout her life and loved to reminisce about her singing career. She enjoyed a long and peaceful retirement.Visitation for Dorothy will be held from 4-5 on Saturday, March 16, 2013 with the service to be at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. John Worzala Dumke officiating. The service will be held at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Homes (Eastside). Burial of cremains will be at a later date at Lake View Memorial Park.
