Dorothy L. Steinfort, 90, of Oshkosh passed away Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Park View Health Center following a two month stay. She was born in Oshkosh on December 20, 1923 to Frank W. and Clara (Pausig) Mueller. On April 19, 1947 she married Donald J. Steinfort at Peace Lutheran Church, Oshkosh. He preceded her in death an June 11, 2006.She was a lifelong member of Peace Lutheran Church, where in her youth she was baptized, confirmed and active in Luther League. In later years she was a member of the former Ladies Aid Society, the Lunch Bunch and served as a second grade Sunday School teacher for over ten years.Dorothy was an honors graduate from Oshkosh High School on January 22, 1942 and although she was disappointed that her infirmity prevented her from attending this years annual reunion (the 72nd), she was a faithful participant in prior years. Between high school and her marriage, Dorothy was employed as an executive secretary at the former Giant Grip Manufacturing Company of Oshkosh.Along with caring for her family, Dorothy volunteered with the American Red Cross and local political campaigns. Dorothy followed the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, Milwaukee Bucks, Wisconsin Badger football and basketball teams, and Duke and Michigan State basketball. When she asked what was on television that day, she really wanted to know if one of her favorite teams was playing. She sent hundreds of birthday, anniversary and holiday greeting cards each year because she enjoyed keeping in touch with family and friends. Dorothy is survived by her daughter Karen Steinfort of Appleton; six cousins, Dorothy, Grace, Henry, Delores, Ralph and Pam; special second cousins, Barbara and Terry Behm and Beverly Hartwig. She is further survived by lifelong friend, Elaine Janke; and good friends, Carol and Terry Young and their children Ty and Melissa. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and infant brother Frank.Funeral services will be held at 6:00 pm on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home - Eastside with the Reverend Ralph Hanusa officiating. Family and friends may call at the Waugoo Avenue funeral home from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery.Dorothy and Karen would like to thank Dr. Alzoubi and his staff of Jen, Kathy and Debbie for the care they gave Dorothy over many years and also the staff of Park Views Prairieside One for all they did during Dorothys recent stay at the facility. In addition, we would like to acknowledge the many kindnesses of Dorothys neighbor, Nancy Judkins.
