Dorothy Louise Zastrow Genal was welcomed into the loving arms of her savior, Jesus, on Saturday, September 29, 2012. She was born the daughter of William and Ella (Ziegenhagen) Zastrow on March 6, 1912. She attended Business College in Oshkosh where she won an award for her beautiful penmanship. She married Albert John Genal on September 9, 1936. After Alberts death, March 31, 1967, Dorothy worked in the records room of the Oshkosh Police Department until she retired.Dorothy loved her dogs and canaries, knitting, bird watching, fishing and growing plants and flowers, especially roses. She loved sharing the development of Monarch butterflies and watching them emerge from their cocoons. She was a lifelong member of St. Johns Evangelical Church.Dorothy will be missed by her four daughters: Eleanor Helm of Winneconne, Diane (JC) Vogt of Iowa, Christine (John) Rademacher of Rhinelander, Cheryl (Tom) Rosenthal of Oshkosh; her seven grandchildren: John (Penny) Vogt of Texas, DeAnne (Steve) Lusk of Iowa, Karen (Russell) Dettlaff of Oshkosh, Michelle (Brian) Beukema of Iowa, Judy (Bob) Felberg of Oshkosh, Jay (Karen) Vogt of Texas, and Michael (Emily) Rademacher of Sheboygan; six great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Edgar and Robert Zastrow; sister, Jeanette LaFontaine; granddaughter, Mary Rademacher; and son-in-law Herbert Helm.Funeral services for Dorothy will be held at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home- Eastside (402 Waugoo Ave.) on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Noon with Revs. Jennifer Czarnota and Thomas Koening officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 am to the time of service. Interment will be at Lake View memorial Park.The family would like to express special thanks to all the staff at Park View for taking such good care of Dorothy. You loved her and treated her like family Thank you. In lieu of flowers please consider memorial gifts to Park View Health Center, St Johns Evangelical Church and Oshkosh Area Humane Society.
