Dorothy M Laabs

Dorothy M. Laabs, 91, of Oshkosh died Saturday July 28, 2012, at Eden Meadows. She was born October 13, 1920 in Dale, WI a daughter of the late Ernst and Agnes (Selle) Knutzen. Dorothy married Orville Laabs on May 16, 1942 in Oshkosh. He preceded her in death on September 8, 1980. Dorothy was a member of Martin Luther Ev. Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Guild, in the choir and hand bell choir, and the Lutheran Womens Missionary Society being their former national secretary. She enjoyed bowling and golfing and was on the Lakeshore Ladies Golf League. Dorothy also volunteered for Meals on Wheels for 30 years. Her survivors include three daughters, Rhoda (Bob) Thiel of Clintonville, Marcia (Howard) Vrankin of Port Washington, and Cynthia (Robert) Becker of Oshkosh; two sons, Gary (Eileen) Laabs of Hanover, PA and Timothy Laabs (special friend Theresa Henning) of Lublin; a sister, Bernice Potratz of Oshkosh; a brother, Frank (Marlene) Knutzen of Black Creek; sisters-in-law Bernice (Harold) Knutzen of Black Creek and Erma (Marvin) Potratz of Van Dyne; brothers-in-law Albert (Geneva) Laabs Jr. of Neenah and Ray Posselt of Oshkosh; eight grandchildren, Stacia (Todd), Gordan, Todd (Julie), Andrew, Heidi (Michael), Ryan, Peter, and Margaret; and six great-grandchildren, Harrison, Elsa, Ingrid, Hunter, Victoria, and Mila. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville; her brothers, Clarence and Harold Knutzen; her sister, Mildred Romberg; and her sisters-in-law, Mildred Kopitzke and Loma Jean Posselt. A funeral service for Dorothy will be held Saturday August 4, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Luther Ev. Lutheran Church, Rev. Jeff Berg officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the service. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials will be given to Martin Luther Lutheran Church and Lutheran Womens Missionary Society. The family would like to thank Eden Meadows for the excellent care of Dorothy the past two years.
