Douglas A. Wenzel

January 14, 1943 — November 14, 2019

Douglas A. Wenzel went to his eternal rest early morning on November 14, 2019. He was born January 14, 1943 to Norman and Mabel (Strey) Wenzel.
He graduated Oshkosh High School class of 1961. In July 1964 Doug joined the United States Coast Guard where he served through November 1990. Later he worked at Basler Turbo Conversions in Oshkosh.
He married Karen M. (Weiland) Wenzel on July 14, 1979. They celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this year. Douglas helped raise two children; Geoffrey and Rachel Borree. He instilled his beliefs and values in them and they both feel he was their true father.
Douglas enjoyed fishing, golfing, hunting, and going to the casinos.
Douglas is survived by his wife Karen, son Geoffrey (Jackie) Borree, his daughter Rachel (Paul) Dillon, brothers Ronald (Eunice), his identical twin brother Richard (Jane), and William (Bonnie) Wenzel and his sister Marion Daley. He is further survived by his grand children Blake and Thompson Borree and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Carol Kenefick, Susan Wenzel, brother-in-law Thomas Daley and nephew Christopher Daley.
A funeral service for Douglas will be held at Calvary Lutheran Church 2580 West 9th Ave Oshkosh on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 11:30 AM with Rev. Karen Jewell officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of service. Full military honors will take place at church. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery following the service.
