Douglas E Arent

Douglas E. Arent, 75, of Oshkosh died Wednesday August 6, 2008 at his residence. He was born April 13, 1933 in New London, WI a son of the late Norbert and Ruby Ziemer Arent. Doug married Sondra Nelson on July 15, 1960 in Oshkosh. She preceded him in death on June 15, 1996. He then married Carol Jergenson on November 6, 1999 in Oshkosh. Doug worked for many years at Rockwell International retiring in 1988. He was a member of St. Johns Ev. Lutheran Church and fulfilled his obligation with the U. S. Naval Reserves. Doug was on the board of directors for the Wisconsin Axle Credit Union (now Citizens First C.U.) along with that position he held various local, state, and national positions with credit union organizations. He was an avid fisherman; both ice and open water, and enjoyed traveling. Doug was formerly a member of the Metronome Barbershop Quartet. He is survived by his wife, Carol; a daughter, Rhonda (Todd) Zellmer; two grandchildren, Toby and Lucas Zellmer; two sisters, Betsy (Ray) Kolodzik and Cindy (Michael) Huebschen; a brother, Rodney (Lenore) Arent; a step-daughter, Kelly (Mark) Lindekugel; a step-son, Eric Jergenson and four step-grandchildren, Nicholas, Nathan, and Matthew Meitzen, and Ava Jergenson. He was also preceded in death by a son, Scott Arent and a sister, Sally Frye. Funeral services for Doug will be held Monday August 11, 2008 at 11:30 AM at St. Johns Ev. Lutheran Church Rev. Ted Johanson officiating. Visitation will be held Monday at the church from 9 AM until the service. A Douglas Arent Memorial Fund is being established in lieu of flowers.
