Douglas Mark Hammen, age 67, of Oshkosh, went to eternal peace with the Lord on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2017 with his loving wife of 47 years and their four children at his side. He was born in Little Chute, WI on October 30th, 1949, the son of the late Ernest and Eunice (Hartjes) Hammen. Doug retired after 36 years of service from the United States Postal Service. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and APWU American Postal Workers Union.Doug is survived by his wife Linda and four children: Shelly (Chris) Puetz, Judd (Kelli) Hammen, Carrie (Jeremy) Phillips, and Jason (Keri) Hammen; ten grandchildren that were the light of his life: Kelton Buege, Owen and Everett Phillips, Katelynn and Jack Puetz, Laina and Eli Hammen, and Caden, Hailey and Gavin Hammen; brothers and sisters: Tom (Claudette) Hammen, Jerry (Kathy) Hammen, Kathy (Bill) Conrad, Ann (Jim) Vander Sanden, Ellen (Mike) Hooyman, Mary ( Dan) Romenesko, and Ron (Lynn) Hammen.He was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Eunice Hammen, brothers Michael and Joseph, nephew Robbie and many aunts and uncles.The family invites family and friends of Douglas to celebrate his life on Friday, January 6th 2017. Visitation from 1:00-3:00 p.m. with Catholic Mass to follow at St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church, 830 Westhaven Dr., Oshkosh, WI 54904. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in Dougs name.Douglas was many things to many people. He was a caring and compassionate man who always thought of others before himself. He went out of his way to make people laugh. He will be missed dearly by all.
