Earl L. Fahley, age 92, the Patriarch of the Fahley Family, passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at Aurora Hospital in Oshkosh. He was born on October 21, 1923, in the town of Vinland, the son of Lawrence C. and Amy E. (Pratt) Fahley. He married Ione M. Fredrick on February 24, 1945, in St. Peters R.C. Church in Oshkosh (70 years ago).Earl lived his life between the Town of Vinland and Oshkosh and graduated from Neenah High School in 1942. In high school Earl was a member of the Young Mens Agricultural Association. During his teenage years he was a member of the family band that played mainly in the Allenville Grange Hall. He received a Farm Laborer Exemption so he could help feed the Armed Forces during World War II. After the war Earl worked at various occupations, one of which was working as a machinist at Wisconsin Axle in 1947. Then he went to work for H.P. Schmidt Milling Company off and on several times working in the mill, as a truck driver and later as a Stationary Engineer in the boiler room. In between he worked at J.F. Stadtmueller as a farm machinery demonstrator and mechanic for two years. For seven years Earl worked at Winnebago State Hospital as a boiler operator and then as an Operating Engineer. In 1969, he went to work for the Pioneer Inn as the Chief Engineer for eight years until new ownership purchased the inn. Then he located a job at Lenox Candle Company in the Maintenance and Machine Shop and remained there for seven years. Finally in 1985 he went to work for Casey Manufacturing Company as a machinist. In 1994 Earl semi-retired and went to work part-time for Ideal Products as a machinist working on priority items. He retired in 2004.Earl was a lifetime member of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants and the Wisconsin Society of Mayflower Descendants. His ancestor was the cooper named John Alden.Earl is survived by five children: Lawrence (Barbara) of Bayonne, NJ, Michael (Diane) of Minneapolis, MN, Theresa (Wayne) Hart of Boise, ID, Timothy (Kathy) and Jeanmarie Lofton both of Oshkosh; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Roydon of Winneconne and a sister-in-law, Veronica Fahley; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his wife, Ione of 70 years, his parents, brothers: Gordon and Harold Fahley; sisters-in-law, Sharon and Theresa Fahley and brother-in-law, Harold Bud Friedrich.Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Most Blessed Sacrament, St. Mary site, 605 Merritt Ave., with Father Jim Jungenheimer officiating. Friends and family may visit at the church from 10:00 am Saturday until the time of Mass. Private interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park, Oshkosh.
