Edith A. Dahms

Edith A. Dahms, age 85, was called to her eternal home on Monday November 24, 2008. She was born January 23, 1923 in Oshkosh, the daughter of the late Bert and Meta (Hoffman) Thiel. Edith married Victor L. Dahms on January 23, 1943. He preceded her in death on January 30, 1978. Edith was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church, and for many years was a member of Grace Circle. She enjoyed reading, playing cards and doing anything with her family. She was especially happy in the kitchen, and will always be remembered for the love she put into cooking and baking for her family. Her survivors include three daughters Sherry Dahms, Kathy Middleton, and Ellen (Ron) Marshall all of Oshkosh; a son Steven (Diane) Dahms of Appleton; four grandchildren Erin (Josh) Short, Erik (Adrianne) Dahms, Jackie Marshall (Mike Mott), and Robert Marshall; and a great-grandson Zach Dahms. She is also survived by three sisters (the other Thiel Girls) Marion Thiel, June Breager, and Clara Houge; in-laws, Carl Merkel, Marge Staerkel, LeRoy (Marge) Dahms, Viola Dahms, and Don Youngwirth, and numerous nieces and nephews. Edith was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Frank Middleton, two sisters, Lorraine and Susie, and a brother, Dickie. Funeral services for Edith will be held Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 12:00 noon at Grace Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Gregg Schoeneck officiating. Visitation will be held at the church Saturday from 10 AM until the service. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park.The family wishes to thank the staff of Evergreen for the wonderful care they provided, and to Dr. Michael Knier for his many years of caring for Mom.In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Grace Lutheran Church.
