Edward “Ed” P. Kaltenbach, age 90, of Oshkosh, WI, was greeted by his wife, Betty on Saturday, March 22, 2025, to dance to polkas in Heaven, after sharing a big smile with his 2-year-old great-grandson, Malakai at Aurora BayCare Medical Center.
Ed was born on November 6, 1934, son of the late Emil and Amelia (Lautenschlager) Kaltenbach, in Oshkosh, WI. He graduated from Omro High school. He met the love of his life, Betty Grams, at a dance at the Eagles Club in Oshkosh. They were married October 9, 1954. He started his own truck driving business, Ed Kaltenbach Trucking, he hauled bulk milk from dairy farms. Later on he hauled gravel. Ed was a hard worker and finally retired when he was 80 years old.
He enjoyed playing sheepshead on Tuesday nights with the guys and playing cards with friends. He was a dedicated Bucks, Brewers, and Packers fan. Ed could be seen out in his yard planting various flowers for him and Betty to enjoy. He was a good cook and supplied wonderful food for family gatherings.
Ed is survived by his children, Suzanne (Wayne) Ritschke and Tim (Jane) Kaltenbach, of Oshkosh, WI, and Lori (John) Helstrom of Omro, WI; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; he is further survived by nieces and nephews in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Minnesota.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Betty Kaltenbach; son, Michael Kaltenbach; brother, Richard (Barbara) Kaltenbach; and sister, Joan (Dennis) Kinderman.
A memorial service for Ed will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025, at 2:00pm, at Zion Lutheran Church, 400 N Sawyer St, Oshkosh. A time of visitation will begin at 1:00pm until the start of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Zion Lutheran Food Pantry.
