Mr. Edwin G. Achterberg of Oshkosh, formerly of Brookfield, died peacefully onSeptember 29, 2005 at Aurora Hospital in Oshkosh. Ed was born on October6th 1915 in St. Joseph Mi. He married Florence Edna Behlen on August 21, 1937 in Benton Harbor Mi. Florence preceded Ed in death on February 8th, 1992. Ed was employed by Briggs & Stratton for 25 years. Ed worked his way up to Chief Plant Engineer; a position he greatly enjoyed. Ed was a member of Elmbrook Church for 35 years and he had the privilege of serving on the1st missionary committee and being involved with the Telling The Truth Tape Ministry. Ed loved to fish and hunt and he enjoyed his lake cabin. Ed is survived by his daughter, Mary (Phil) Woolhiser of Aikin, SC; a son, Michael (Sandra) Achterberg of Oshkosh; a brother, Herb (Alice) Achterberg; a daughter-in-law, Joyce (Achterberg) Jounston; his seven grandchildren, Dean, Jean, Brad, Cindy, Susan, Christine, Darlene; and great grandchildren, Kyle, Nolan, Ella, Katherine, Dajana, Admir, Erik, Sanya, Aaron, Nathan. Ed was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Achterberg.Visitation will be held October 3rd from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, followed by a memorial service at the Elmbrook Church, 777 So. Barker Rd, Brookfield. The Rev. Stuart Briscoe will officiate. Burial will be at Highland MemorialPark.Memorial contributions can be made to New Tribes Mission.
