Elaine H. Bathke, age 80, of Oshkosh, was called home to enjoy eternal happiness, at her home on Sunday June 28, 2009, surrounded by the love of her family and a special friend after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Oshkosh to Herbert and Edith Ruechel on September 29, 1928. She worked at Oshkosh BGosh, Miles Kimball, SNC Manufacturing CO, and Oshkosh YMCA. Elaine met and fell in love with her soul mate Gilbert Bathke. The two of them were joined in wedded bliss on June 19, 1954. The most important thing to Elaine was her family. They were her pride and joy, always bragging about them. She always looked forward to her shopping sprees with her daughter. Elaine also enjoyed camping greatly. She was always kind and big hearted when she was around people. Elaine is survived by her husband Gilbert, a daughter Sandy (Mark) Vonderloh of Oshkosh, one brother Leonard (Ruth) Ruechel of Oshkosh, two grandsons Mike Vonderloh (fianc Ann Butt) of Oshkosh and Jeff (Gena) Vonderloh of Omro, and three great-grandchildren Austin, Kendra, and Sierra. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents and one son Tony. Funeral services for Elaine will be held Wednesday July 1, 2009 at 7:00 PM at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside, Rev. Nancy Krueger officiating. Family and friends may call at the Lake Pointe Dr. funeral home on Wed. from 3 PM until the service. Burial will be in Peace Lutheran Cemetery. A very special thanks to Martha & Rich and Cyndi & Gary, the wonderful neighbors that have helped look after her. Another special thanks from the family goes to all of Elaines doctors and the staff at the Vince Lombardi Cancer Center and the Aurora VNA Hospice.
