Elaine L. Cooper, 76, Oshkosh, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017. She was born December 18, 1940, in Hettinger, ND, the daughter of Elmer and Lillian (Ness) Jorgensen. Elaine was a graduate of Northern State College, Aberdeen, SD. She was employed as a speech and language pathologist with Northwest Area Schools serving schools in Faith, Bison, and Harding County, SD for 13 years. In 1988 Elaine moved to Mobridge, SD, to serve Oahe Area Schools and then served the Mobridge Public School District until her retirement in 2007 when she moved to Wisconsin. Elaine’s pride and joy was her grandsons. She cherished every moment spent with her boys. She also enjoyed rummage sales, gardening, and socializing. She was active in many groups including the Red Hatters, quilting circles, and the Retired Educators Association. Elaine was a life-long learner who embraced technology to continue her education every day.
Elaine is survived by her children: Melissa Cooper, Lizabeth (Omar) Sutherland, Sheldon (Jaci) Cooper, and Stuart Cooper; grandsons: Brent Cooper, Grant Tiger, Payton Cooper, Braden Cooper, and Shaun Cooper. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Loran Jorgensen; and a sister, Laurel “Flower” DeFronzo.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside, 100 Lake Pointe Drive, Oshkosh, with Rev. Jan Veseth officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service. Memorials may be directed to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Oshkosh, where Elaine was a member.
