Elaine M. Josephson, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Parkview Health Center. She was born Elaine Steinhilber on January 9, 1926, in Oshkosh, the daughter of Gustave and Marguerite (Dreyer) Steinhilber. Elaine graduated from Oshkosh High School. On November 28, 1947 she married Carrol Josephson in Oshkosh. He preceded her in death on September 10, 2010. In 1948 Elaine and Carrol purchased their first farm and together they created a successful farming operation. Additionally, Elaine was employed at the Harmon Insurance agency for more than 25 years until her retirement. She was also very active in many community groups such as 4-H, Homemakers and the Women's Church Circle. She was a member of Elo United Methodist Church until 1997, and then became one of the original members of Countryside Christian Church, where she remained a member until her death. Again, she was an active participant in the new church and was especially proud to have been able to be involved in projects that subsequently enabled the congregation to build its first church. Immensely devoted to her family, Elaine was a loving wife and mother. In the words of her grandchildren, "she was the best grandma ever". She was also a very proud great grandmother. Elaine loved to use her extraordinary cooking and baking talents to make wonderful productions at Thanksgiving, Christmas, birthdays and all holidays. Elaine had a natural gift to sing beautiful music as a soloist, and many families and her church were blessed because of this. She was a kind and gentle woman; her love and generosity knew no boundaries. Her love will live on in those who survive her, including her five children, Jane Josephson, Oshkosh; Trudy Josephson, Oshkosh; Betty (Jerry) Keene, Waverly, NY; Dewey (Jean) Josephson, Oshkosh and Joy Smith (Special Friend, John LeBouton), Oshkosh. Her grandchildren, Amy Clark, Angela (Erik) Folske, Dominica Smith, Elizabeth Smith, Heather (Andrew) Thorson, all of Oshkosh; Lee ( Missy) Clark, Rhinelander; Dewey Josephson II, Mt. Lebanon, PA; Kyle Keene, New York, NY and Alex Keene, Waverly, NY. Also surviving are her great grandchildren, Wesley and Wyatt Folske, Oshkosh; Ryder Clark, Rhinelander; Jacob Sillars, Oshkosh and Abigail and Lydia Thorson, Oshkosh. She is further survived by her nieces, Kathy Rees, Madison, WI and Jean Thiel, Chesapeake, VA; her nephews, Roy (Marsha) Lewis, Buffalo, NY and Howard (Sandy) Lewis, Virginia Beach, VA and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carrol Josephson; her sister, Bernice (Steinhilber) Lewis; brothers-in-law, Merrill Lewis and Ire Rees; sister-in-law, Mary Rees and one special nephew, Bill Rees. Services for Elaine will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 11:00 at Countryside Christian Church, 1483 Burr Oak Road, Oshkosh (intersection of Hwy 44 and Burr Oak Road). The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:00 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Countryside Christian Church building fund. The family wishes to thank the staff at Parkview Health Center for the excellent care provided for Elaine for the past three years. Mother Ran out of life, before she ran out of time
