Elda Evelyn Steinert

Elda Evelyn Kortbein Steinert, 90, died peacefully Wednesday, April 17, 2013. A longtime resident of Oshkosh , Elda was born October 21, 1922 in Bear Creek, to the late Albert and Esther (Tornow) Kortbein. On December 3 , 1943, she married Barton William Steinert in Ames, Ia. He preceded her in death in 1994. Along with many jobs during the war and raising children, Elda retired from Kmart in 1984. Elda enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, gardening, crocheting, and watching Wheel of Fortune. Survivors include a daughter and three sons, and their spouses, Diana and Earl Dougherty, Bart, Jr. and Jan, David and Diane, and Paul and Sheila; Her grandchildren Christina (Doug) Denson; Megan Kodanko, and Erin Dougherty; Bret, Josh (Lindsey), Matt (Susie); Jenny (Tim) Rammer; Jamie (Bobbi Jo); Jonathan, and Nicole; Her great-grandchildren Rylie, Everett , Grace, Wyatt, Aryah, Harrison, Lauryn, Taylor, Jordyn, Camryn , and Bentley. Her sister Norma (Dick) Jirschele and brothers, Verlyn (Ruth) Kortbein and Duane (Marilyn) Kortbein, sister-in-law Jean Kortbein, and many nieces and nephews.Elda was preceded in death by her husband; her sister and brothers, Irma (Knitt), and Marvin and Harold. Funeral service for Elda will be held at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Homes (Westside) on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at 5:00 P.M. with Rev. Marty Ruge officiating. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established to the Alzheimers Association.The family extends a very, very special thank you to the staff of Eden Meadows for the wonderful and loving care that Elda received.
