Eleanor Bernice Engel

Eleanor B. Engel, age 90, of Oshkosh died on Sunday June 8, 2008 at her home in Waupaca. She was born August 27, 1917 in Oshkosh to Amanda and Paul Werch. On July 1, 1939 she married Harold Engel of Oshkosh. Harold preceded her in death on December 12, 2004 after 65 years of marriage. Eleanor and Harold will be missed by so many but they are finally together again.She and her husband, who had been a member of the Oshkosh Police department, were members of Peace Lutheran Church for many years. Eleanor worked as a telephone operator for Wisconsin Bell and later in retail at Johnson Hills and JC Pennys. She loved her dogs; Doc, Duke, Muffy, Benji and Sassy. She also loved to cook and amassed thousands of recipes, enjoyed knitting, ceramics, cards, and most of all her family.Survivors include: two sons, John (Sharon) Engel of Oshkosh, Tom (Shana) Engel of Colorado, a daughter Nancy (Richard) Thiele of Waupaca, a sister Arlene Quimby of Oshkosh, seven grandchildren Tara Engel of Washington, DC; Tiffany Engel of Bradenton, FL; Derrick Engel of Vail, CO; Scott (Missy) Engel of Oshkosh; Tricia (Roger) Nelson of Oshkosh; Amanda Thiele of Waupaca; TJ Thiele of Waupaca; five great-grandchildren Lauren Nelson, Brett Engel, Nina and Ben Lytle, Alexandra Bellumo; one great-great grandchild, Tristen; a sister-in?law Irma Miller and several nieces and nephews. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband and one grandchild, Reed Thomas Engel.A service for Eleanor will be held on Monday June 9, 2008 at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home, 100 Lake Pointe Drive Oshkosh (920) 232-5485 at 2:30 PM with Chaplain Jordan Kuczwara officiating. Family and friends may call from 1:30 PM to the time of service on Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the family plot at Riverside Cemetery next to her husband.
