Eleanore Violet Urban

October 14, 1918 — September 11, 2015

Eleanore Violet Urban passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, September 11, 2015. She was born on October 14, 1918 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Martin and Margaret (Perchinski) Hamera. She met Ted Urban when he played baseball on her fathers team and they were married in 1941. They had five daughters together and moved to Oshkosh, WI in 1950. They were married for 70 years until Ted passed away in 2011.In her earlier years Eleanore was a licensed Beautician and later sold beauty products for Avon. She volunteered at Mercy Hospital and the Senior Center. She was a member of Mercy Hospital Auxiliary, St. Mary's Women's Group, Friends of the Senior Center, Oshkosh Optimist Club and Newcomer's Club. She also worked at Nanas, her daughters Martina and Cheryl's antique shop.Eleanore enjoyed being with family and her many friends and loved to entertain, play cards, and bingo. She adored music and dancing. She traveled extensively but really loved to visit Chicago, her home town. In her spare time she enjoyed writing poetry. Eleanore was a wonderful listener, a gentle loving soul and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.Eleanore is survived by her daughters, Cheryl (Jerry) Jacklin, Michaelene (John) Kraus, Theadora (Tom) Butt, Lee Ann (Tim) Smith; two grandchildren: Mae Lee Watson and Joel Watson; great granddaughter, Chelsea Watson; sister-in-law, Jean Pohnan; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ted, and oldest daughter Martina Watson. Funeral services will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside (100 Lake Pointe Drive) with Father James Jugenheimer officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Private burial will be held in Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers Eleanore would love you to go out and have a good time!Our family would like to thank everyone at Eden Meadows for their tender, loving care of our mother. She had a wonderful last year of her life there.
