Elizabeth A. Baum, age 71, of Appleton, passed away on December 24, 2022 at Theda Care Regional Medical Center in Appleton. She was born on January 4, 1951 in St. Charles, Illinois, a daughter of Arthur and Patricia Daniels Baum.
She was an avid reader who also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and spending time enjoying her beautiful backyard. She was always up for a competitive game of Scrabble. In August of 2019, after retirement, she moved to Mike and Anita’s home where she resided until her passing. She was able to enjoy her family and pets every day; bringing her the joy and spirit to keep pushing on. She was so grateful that other family members were again close by and took such pleasure from our family gatherings. Unforgettable memories were made with Mom on family trips all over the country and internationally. Mom was beyond intelligent, sharing her vast knowledge with her children and grandchildren, whom she would move heaven and earth for, always taking the time to make every opportunity a teaching moment where a valuable lesson could be learned. She was an incredibly strong woman, enduring many physical ailments throughout her adult life. Her strength to live every day with a purpose was nothing short of amazing.
She is survived by her daughters Anita (Mike) Boelter, Lisabeth (Dan) Smith, Eve (Ricky) Powell, grandchildren Alex, Alyssa, Brandon, Jade, Jalyn, and Janay, three great-grandchildren, one brother Robert (Laura) Hensel, two nephews Mike Hensel and Daniel Lupo, close friends Debbie Reuter and Dennis “Rabbit” Breitrick, and lastly her pets, dog Renni, and cats Allen and Alice.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Kathryn Lupo, her grandson Jacob Powell, and Willie.
The family would like to thank her healthcare team who stood by her year and year. Specifically, Dr. John Schirger (Mayo Rochester) and her local providers consisting of Dr. Edward Szabo, Dr. Simon Roselaar, Dr. Ben Ciske, Dr. Qiaofang Chen, Dr. Osaid Ahmad, Dr. Kenneth Schaufelbeger, and Amanda Smith.
A private family memorial was held December 28, 2022. A Celebration of Life will be held in June 2023 where we can gather around a campfire while enjoying the beauty of just being; one of her favorite activities.
Mom, you will be with us always and the love you had for us we will feel every day. We love you more! The hurt will never go away. The lessons you’ve taught us we will carry throughout our lives.
You are now at rest; pain-free and walking (maybe even running!) among the forests, oceans, and mountaintops.
