Elmer E. Janke, 88 of Oshkosh, died Thursday November 29, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born on October 23, 1919 the son of Edward and Elsa Luecker Janke in Brillion, WI. On August 10, 1946 he married Annabelle C. Floether at the Peace Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. They were married for 61 years. Elmer was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church and helped with its mailings. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Philippines Islands. He joined the American Legion Cook-Fuller Post 70 after the war. He enjoyed playing basketball in his youth and still loved to golf, bowl and travel. He was a Meals on Wheels volunteer for many years. He was director of purchasing at the Leach Co. retiring after 35 years. Elmer is survived by his wife, Annabelle Janke of Oshkosh, a son Kendall E. (Susan) Janke of Kingman, AZ, a daughter, Margo A. (Michael) Garrand of Stephens City, VA, two brothers, E. Peter Janke of Winston-Salem, NC, and Everett H. Janke of Glenview, IL, two grandchildren, Sarah A. and Benjamin L. Garrand, two nieces, five nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters/in/law.His funeral will be on Tuesday December 4, 2007 at 2:00 PM at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside with Rev. Timothy Greenwald officiating. Burial will be in Peace Lutheran Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:00 PM until the time of the services. A memorial to the Parish Nurse at Peace Lutheran Church has been established.
