Esther Gauger

Esther Margaret Gauger, passed away peacefully in her sleep Tuesday morning, July 2nd. Esther was born September 2, 1914 in Merrill, Wisconsin to Julia (Heinrich) Oleson and Ole Oleson.After the deaths of both parents, Esther was brought to Oshkosh by her step-father to livewith her step grandmother. It was in Oshkosh that she met a handsome young man by thename of Harry Gauger and they were married in 1933 at the parsonage of First EnglishLutheran Church by Rev. E. A. Koch.Harry and Esther made their home in Oshkosh and eventually had two sons, David andJames. After many years in their big white house on the comer of Washington and BroadSts. they moved to Heritage Court and lived there until Harry's death in 2007. Estherthen moved to Bethel Home.Esther was preceded in death by her husband. Harry, her son Jim, both parents, and herbrothers Walter and Norman. She is survived by her son, David (Judy) of Appleton, WI,six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.Esther lived as peacefully as she died. Her family will come together and celebrate herlong life at a graveside service. We wish to thank the caregivers at Bethel Home for the good care given to Esther over the past 6 years. It was her chosen home for her final years and she was happy there.
