Eugene G. Stelter, age 90, passed away on Friday, April 28, 2023, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Green Bay. He was born in Princeton, WI on November 6, 1932, to the late Clement and Pauline (Shanapata).
Eugene was proud to say he was a staff sergeant with the U.S. Air Force from 1952-1956. Stationed in Japan during Korean War. He worked at Rockwell International for 35 years.
He met the love of his life, Sharon Stapel, in 1956. They were united in marriage on May 11, 1957, at St. Josaphats Parish in Oshkosh. Nothing was more important to Eugene than his wife, children and grandchildren. He and Sharon often found sitting on the sidelines of their grandchildren’s sporting events cheering them on.
Throughout his life Eugene enjoyed watching sports, especially the Brewers and Packers! He was an excellent baseball player himself playing fastpitch baseball as a young adult until starting his family.
Eugene also loved to play cards. Cribbage and sheepshead were his favorite. Playing cards over the years with his family and then with his buddies at Havenwood Lake senior apartments brought him joy.
Eugene and Sharon loved to travel. Spending many winters in Florida. It didn’t matter where they were as long as they were together. She was his “Blondie” and his true love!
Eugene is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sharon Stelter; five children: Pam (Jeff) Paulik, Julie (Jim) Lang, Gail (Doug) Hesser, Daniel (Alessandro Raimondi) Stelter, John (Jen) Stelter; grandchildren: Phillip (Marjorie) Paulik, Greggory Paulik, Emily (Matt) Torgorsen, Casee (Ryan) Hawkins, Cam (Cierra Meckelberg) Corcoran, Sarah Hesser, Amanda (Patrick Sloan) Hesser, Carter Stelter; great grandchildren: Porter and Barrett Meach and Lillian Paulik; sister-in-law: Jean Stelter; brother-in-law, Gordon Neabling. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clement and Pauline Stelter; brother, Don Stelter; sister, Karen Neabling; and an infant son, Jeffrey.
