Evelyn Augusta Henslin

Evelyn Augusta Henslin, 89, of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, died on December 24th at her sisters home in Carpinteria, California. Evelyn was surrounded by her sister and other family members while in the final stages of cancer. Evelyn was born on September 27, 1922, in Amherst Junction, Wisconsin, the daughter of Helen and John Hintz. Evelyn married Joseph Mand on June 8, 1950 Joseph preceded her in death on September 5 1963. She married Robert Henslin on August 15, 1964. They celebrated 38 years together until his death on January 12, 2002. Evelyn was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and a member of the Chief Oshkosh Association of the Deaf. Evelyn worked at the Waite Carpet Company for 14 years, Mercy Medical Hospital for 4 1/2 years, Wally Business Equipment Inc. for 5 years and the Neenah Branch Vinland Bank for 17 1/2 years. She retired when she was 62 years of age. Evelyn enjoyed bowling, fishing, traveling, playing cards, game shows and spending time with her many deaf friends, her neighbors, and her family. She lived in Wisconsin her entire life and loved her home and wonderful neighbors in Oshkosh.Evelyn is survived by her sister, Virginia Ashford of Carpinteria California; nephews Jim, Paul, Bill, Tom, and John Ashford and nieces Carol Bennett, Maggie Johnson, and Patsy Mayer; 11 grandnephews, 8 grandnieces, 9 great-grandnephews, and 14 great-grandnieces, all of California. She was preceded in death by her parents John Hintz and Helen Johns, and husbands Joseph Mand, and Robert Henslin.Funeral Services will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church on Saturday, January 7, 2012. Visitation from 11:00AM to 12:00PM Funeral Service at 12:00PM Pastor Paul Lidtke officiating. Graveside Service at Lake View Memorial Cemetery immediately following ceremony. Luncheon reception at Bethlehem Lutheran Church hall.
