Evelyn E. Cieslik Waters, age 96, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at Evergreen Assisted Living in Oshkosh. She was born on May 26, 1927, to the late John and Mary (Hanus) Barwick in Milwaukee. She was united in marriage to Jerome Cieslik on April 19, 1948, in Milwaukee and he preceded her in death on August 13, 1988. She was then united in marriage to William Waters on February 19, 1990, in Rogers, AR and he preceded her in death on October 20, 2015.
Evelyn graduated from Rufus King High School Class of 1945. Throughout the years she worked for McClone Realty, Kayway Beverages, Sentry Foods, A&P, and Northwest Savings & Loan. Evelyn was a member of Retail Clerks Union; Wisconsin Realtors Association; Christian Mothers Society - Mother of Good Counsel Parish, Milwaukee, WI; Pius X Parish, Appleton WI; Trinity Lutheran Church, Rogers AR; Coast Guard Auxiliary, Bentonville, AR.
Evelyn was an active golfer for many years and regularly exercised with Silver Sneakers in Arkansas. Moving to Oshkosh’s Evergreen retirement community in 2018 she participated in walking groups, “Dinner with the Chef”, “Cookies and Company” and daily Rosary. Evelyn enjoyed working puzzles with her family and Wii Bowling on the Spare Parts team.
Evelyn is survived by her children: Susan (Thomas) Kelly, Jeanne Keiler, Jeri (Robert) Zelke, Marten (Fran Keally) Cieslik; stepchildren: Kathleen (Randall) Boeck, David (Susan) Waters, Sandra (Gregory) Schuler-Waters; grandchildren: Mark (Maryann) Kelly, Brian (Nicole) Keiler, Anne (Wayne) Stanislowski, Sara (Bradley) Kelly Becker, Keally (Hannah McMeekin) Cieslik, Lindsay (Tim Opsel) Cieslik; step grandchildren: Daniel Boeck, Kristen Boeck, Brian Waters, Megan Schuler, Graham Schuler; great grandchildren: Justus Keiler, Katy Kelly, Jacky Kelly, Casey Becker, Dylan Becker, Isle Stanislowski, Taya Keiler, Olive Stanislowski. In addition to her parents and spouses, she was further preceded in death by her siblings: Lucille Betcker, Gordan Barwick, and Helen Grudzielanek.
A private family graveside service will take place at Winneconne Village Cemetery.
