Evelyn L Kasper

November 10, 1929 — December 21, 2021

Evelyn (Evie) Lorraine Kasper (nee Dodd), 92, passed away at The Courtyard of Oshkosh, on December 21, 2021, surrounded by her family. Evie was gently welcomed into the Lord’s arms in Heaven and was reunited with her husband, the love of her life, John Kasper, who has been eagerly awaiting her arrival. John always called Evie, “My Little Chickadee” and Evie called John, “Hunts”.
Evie arrived in this world on November 10, 1929, to Harold and Ethel (Lewis) Dodd and was raised on a farm in rural Oshkosh, WI. As a young woman, she was a gentle caretaker of elderly people. Throughout her life she worked at the HI-K Club, Oshkosh B’gosh, Leon’s Drive-In, Miles Kimball and finally spent 25 years at Wisconsin Bell/Ameritech/AT&T.
She met the man she would marry, John Kasper, at a Box Social at a nearby one room schoolhouse. John made the highest bid on Evie's box lunch and got to share his first lunch with her. They loved each other from the very first. They were united in marriage on May 16, 1953 and were married over 66 years.
Evie was a very caring person. She worked hard every day of her life, helping to raise her nine siblings, and then caring for her own four children and grandchildren. Evie was an avid reader, especially of nursing novels. Evie loved to bake and cook, often making each family member’s favorite recipe for them. Evie loved cardinals and had quite an extensive collection. Evie enjoyed doing many crafts. Her favorite was sewing, and she was an excellent seamstress. She would often sew clothes for her nieces, nephews, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was an extremely generous soul. She was a member of the Pioneers of America (AT&T). As a member of the Christ Child Society, she would sew bonnets and gowns for stillborn babies and babies who died shortly after birth to be buried in.
Evie and John enjoyed square dancing all across the valley and spent many years doing this activity. Summer months were spent with John, growing beautiful flowers in their many flower beds. She loved to grow vegetables and fruits and can them each summer and fall. Evie and John took great pride in keeping an immaculately kept home and yard.
Evie is survived by her children, Jim (Mary) Kasper, Pat (Paula) Kasper, Tony (Pam) Kasper and Sandy (Michael) Huck; her grandchildren Hollie (Matt) Holtebeck, Troy, (Meghann) Kasper, Laura Kasper, Brian (Johnny) Kasper, Justin Kasper, Christina (Michael) Kasper, Samantha (Alex) Berger, Annalise (Thomas) Perry, Elise (Matt) Werry and Sherry (Scott) Kreel; her great grandchildren Martin, Addie, Henry, Mercy, Sparrow, Lily, Aurora, River, Olive Jo, Silas, Alex, Riley, Brady and Evelyn. Evie is also survived by her little sister, Dorothy Ewald and sisters-in law, Joyce Dodd, Linda Dodd, Millie Quant, Dolly Barforth, Marlene Kasper, and Helen Kasper; brother-in law Bill Kasper; and various nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Kasper; parents, Harold and Ethel Dodd, siblings and in-laws, John (Marion) Dodd, Art (Betty) Dodd, Betty (Oscar) Zarling, Bill Dodd, George (Carol) Dodd, Pat (Mary) Dodd, Ted Dodd, Tom Dodd and Dennis Ewald.
We lovingly remember all of Evie’s family members, in-laws and friends who have passed on before her.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at The Courtyard of Oshkosh, Aurora Medical Center, Heartland Hospice and Dr. Arthur Panczyk and his office staff for all their loving care of Evie.
