Florence Wokosin

Florence L. (Lewis) Wokosin, 93, of Oshkosh went home in the arms of her lord Saturday, May 11, 2013, after a brief stay at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. She was born on February 27, 1920 in the town of Omro to Arthur and Edith (Phillips) Lewis. She attended Ham School from 1st through 8th grades and she went on to graduate from Omro High School. On June 14, 1945, she was united in marriage to Arthur G. Wokosin of Oshkosh, at the parsonage of Peace Lutheran Church. She remained a faithful member until the time of her passing.Florences love of Christ and others brought her to service through volunteerism. She gave selflessly and happily when ever she was able, and always with a smile at Peace Lutheran, Red Cross, and Mercy Medical Center.Survivors include her son, Thomas (Carol) Wokosin, Appleton; her granddaughter, Cori Wokosin, Appleton; a brother-in-law, Elmer (Eleanor) Wokosin and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Florence in death were her husband, Arthur, December 18, 1989; a son, Richard, April 3, 2011; a daughter, Gloria, April 12, 2003; four brothers, Willard, Philip, Everett, Harold; two sisters, Mabel Leiten, Ethel Dodd; and other brothers and sisters-in-law.Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church (240 W 9th Ave) with Rev. John Wozala Dumke officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to the service time. Entombment will be at Lake View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established.
