Floyd R. Anderson, age 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Century Oaks with his family by his side. He was born on November 12, 1927 to August and Myrtle Anderson in Watertown, SD. He married the love of his life, Mavis Bjorklund, on June 24, 1950 in Lake Norden, S.D.After Floyd graduated from high school he furthered his education by obtaining his CLU and worked 32 years for Thrivent Financial. Floyd had many hobbies that he enjoyed throughout his life. He liked to golf, hunt, bowl, play horseshoes, poker and bridge and was an avid Packer fan. He was thrilled to get his pilot license at the age of 16. Floyd continued to be passionate about flying by building and flying remote control airplanes and volunteering as a docent at EAA. He was proud of traveling to all 50 States and 12 different Countries. He adored his grandchildren and found great joy cheering for them at their many activitiesHe is survived by his wife, Mavis Anderson of Oshkosh, WI; daughters, Gail (Michael) Knier of Oshkosh, WI and Janise (Martin) Bader of Bloomington, MN; grandchildren, Jeff (fiance Carlene Empanger) Knier, Alyssa (Grant) OBrien, Brianna ( Matt Court ) Bader, Steven (Zan) Knier, Greg and Tony Bader and one great-grandchild, Rylan OBrien.Floyd is also survived by Maynard Bjorklund, Dean and Ardy Gackstetter, Joan Carey, and Lucille Anderson and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, Andy and Myrtle Anderson; step-mother, Becky Anderson; his twin brother, Lloyd Anderson and younger brother Gordon Anderson.He will be remembered for his kind, gentle demeanor and his love of family. A memorial service for Floyd will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Homes-Westside (100 Lake Point Dr.) and will be officiated by Pastor Karen Jewell. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. Memorials appreciated to the Alzheimers Association or to the EAA.The family would like to send a special thank you to the ladies at Century Oaks, Dr. Alzoubi, and to Heartland Hospice for the warm love and care they provided for Floyd.
