Francois E. Barroso, age 86, died peacefully at home on June 13,2012, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 20, 1926, inOran, Algeria, the son of Antoine and Illuminada Andreo Barroso. After the death of his father, he emigrated to the U.S. with his mother in 1949. InSeptember 1959 he married Juliann Onesti in Tigerton, Wisconsin. Francois was preceded in death by his parents and sister, AlbertineHetue, and nephew James Hetue. He is survived by his wife and twodaughters, Mona (Todd) Calder and Maria (Rick Schubert) Barroso, as wellas granddaughter Caitlin Calder. He is further survived by brothers- andsisters-in-law, as well as numerous nephews and nieces. Francois had various occupations in his life, starting in Algeria as apastry chef and continuing in the U.S. as a baker, textile worker, boatbuilder, and mechanic. In 1990 he retired as a mechanic from Kimberly-Clark, but he was best known to the people of Oshkosh as a marinemechanic at Eddies Evergreen Marina, where he was often referred to asFrenchy or Poncho. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Most Blessed SacramentParish, St Peter Church, 449 High Avenue, on Saturday June 16, 2012 at10:00 a.m. with Father James Jugenheimer officiating. A visitation willbe held at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial services will be private. Thank you to those who visited and assisted the family duringFrancois last days. A special thank you to nurses Phil and Cindy with Affinity Hospice for the care they provided. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Affinity Visiting Nurses, Hospice Services.
