Frank was born on February 14, 1928 in Butler, Wisconsin, son of Mary (Altman) and Joseph Bremberger. He was a graduate of Menomonee Falls High School and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1946, serving from 1946-1948. Frank attended La Crosse State College from 1948 to 1952, graduating with a bachelors degree. He received his Masters Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Montana in 1956.Frank married Carol Tikal on August 19, 1950 in La Crosse, Wisconsin. In 1953 Frank began his career in education in Oshkosh by working for the public school system as a history and English teacher at Roosevelt Junior High School. Upon completion of his Masters degree, he became principal at Emmeline Cook Elementary. Following that he was the principal at Franklin Elementary, Roosevelt Elementary and Junior High, and Perry Tipler Middle School.Frank and Carol loved to travel before and after retirement, often traveling to visit their children and grandchildren to share in special events or just spend time together. They spent several Christmases in Minocqua, Wisconsin with their daughters and sons-in-law and grandchildren enjoying cross-country skiing in the beautiful Northwoods. For many years, Frank and Carol traded Wisconsin winters for several weeks of golf and relaxation in Destin, Florida. Frank loved his grandchildren and very much enjoyed being a grandpa. Frank was an avid golfer and loved dogs, walking, and being active. He was a talented athlete in high school and college. He enjoyed officiating Wisconsin high school and college football games for many years with three other very good friends. Frank was also a great Packer Backer and Brewers fan.Carol and family would like to thank the staff at ShareHaven for the excellent and compassionate care Frank received while living there. We consider everyone at ShareHaven an extension of our own families and always felt welcome and at home when visiting. We are grateful to the nurses and staff at the Aurora Dialysis Center for their dedication to Franks needs as a dialysis patient. We would also like to thank Dr. Ifueko Okunde for her exceptional care of Frank as his nephrologist and for her genuine interest in him as a person. Frank is survived by his wife, Carol; his daughters Susan (Daniel) Weingarten of Hayward, WI and Jane (Kevin) Funni of Oskaloosa, IA; 4 grandchildren, Melissa Weingarten of Philadelphia, PA, John Weingarten of Hayward, WI, Capt. Stephen Funni, USMC of Beaufort, SC, and 2nd Lieutenant David Funni, USMC of Ames, IA; brother Roderick (Rose) Bremberger of Pewaukee, WI; sisters Elizabeth Bremberger of Milwaukee, WI; and Paula (David) Munson of Manitowish Waters, WI; sisters-in-law Patricia Bremberger of Bella Vista, AR, and Elaine Finnegan of Lyndon Station, WI.He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Joseph Bremberger, brothers Edward and Elmer Bremberger, sister Rosemary Podewils, and an infant son Steven.A funeral service will be held at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside on Saturday July 9, 2011 at 3:00 PM. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from Noon to the time of service.
