Frank D. Carlson, 70, Oshkosh, died unexpectedly Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at Aurora Baycare Medical Center, Green Bay. He was born February 14, 1945, in Iola, son of Franklin and Thordis (Dale) Carlson. After graduating high school, Frank was drafted into the U.S. Army Special Forces as a member of the Green Berets in the Vietnam War. When Frank returned from war, he was a self employed entrepreneur with many businesses up until the time he started working for Badger Federal Trucking, retiring in 2012. Frank was a member of the Oshkosh Elks Lodge and Ducks Unlimited. He enjoyed gardening, baking, cooking, deer hunting, riding motorcycle, and spending time with his family. Frank is survived by his brother, Skip (Sandy) Carlson, Two Rivers; sisters: Dawn Kvasnica, Appleton, and Dorothea (Dave) Wood, Waupaca; a sister-in-law, Shirley Carlson, Waupaca; two uncles: Sven (Shirley) Carlson, Waupaca, and Jerry Eggleston, Cocoa, FL; many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Daniel Carlson; a nephew, Erik Carlson. Frank will be laid to rest in the family plots in Farmington Lutheran Cemetery, Sheridan. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 2, 2016. The Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home, Oshkosh, is assisting the family with arrangements.Franks family would like to express special thanks to the staffs of Aurora Medical Center, both in Oshkosh and Green Bay, as well as Officer Flaig of the Oshkosh Police Department, all the first responders, for their efforts and care, and to Franks neighbor Pete for being such a good friend.
