Frederick E. Kessler, 78, of Markesan, formerly of Milwaukee, died on Sunday, April 12, 2009 at his home in Green Lake, WI surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was born in Milwaukee on April 6, 1931 the son of Roy and Marianne Kessler. Fred married Jean Szeklinski-Runge on April 3, 1978 in Vail, CO. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Princeton, WI and was a Korean War Navy Veteran. He retired from engineering at GE in 1995 and fulfilled his dream of living by the water and moved to Green Lake. Fred was very active where in his younger years he excelled in gymnastics and skating. He worked for the Forest Service in California, enjoyed skiing, and worked with the ski patrol in Colorado for many years. Another one of his passions was sailing along Lake Michigan near his former home in Whitefish Bay, WI. Survivors include his wife Jean; daughters, Valerie (Tom) Casale, Debra (Donald) Sellers, Sandra (Paul) Zwiener, Tracy (Steve) McCann; sons, Darryl (Cindy) Runge, Brent (Joanne) Runge; grandchildren Colin (Melissa) Zipter, Rebecca Zipter, Kellie McCann, Kristin Runge, Ryan McCann, Sean Runge, Damon Zwiener, Cassidy McCann, Elaina Zwiener, Amanda Runge and Brandon Runge; two great grandchildren, Mariah Ortiz, Tyler Stair; sister Patricia Bartlein; sister-in-law, Christine (Jerry) Andrey; and brothers-in-law, Thomas (Linda) Szeklinski and James (Debbie) Szeklinski and other nieces and nephews, family and friends.A memorial funeral mass will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 1:00 PM at St Johns Catholic Church (1211 W. Main St., Princeton) with Fr. Dale Grubba officiating. Visitation for family and friends may call at the church from Noon to the time of service. Private inurnment will be in Resurrection Cemetery Mequon, WI. A memorial has been established to the American Diabetes Association.
