Gary E. Ellner

Gary E. Ellner, age 80 of Omro, passed away at Park View Health Center on Sunday, March 20, 2022. He was born on May 16, 1941 in Oshkosh to the late Edward and Evelyn (Bartels) Ellner, Jr. Gary attended Omro Schools. On August 16, 1969 Gary married Carol Paffenroth. They made their home in rural Omro.

Gary served his country in the Army National Guard from 1964 to 1969. He later worked as a machinist at Mercury Marine for 38 years, retiring in 2007.

He was an avid gardener and took enormous pride in sharing the fruits of his labor. He enjoyed the outdoors and taking care of the birds of the earth. He also enjoyed woodworking. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, and often volunteered at the Lutheran Food Pantry.

He is lovingly survived by his wife of 52 years, Carol; daughter, Jennifer (Scott) Miers of Houghton, MI; son, Blair (Jess) Ellner of Omro; sisters, Betty Olson, Sharon Pahlow, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws, William and Margaret Paffenroth; sister, Carol (Marvin) Reinke; brother-in-law: Russell Olson; brother-in-law: Robert Pahlow; brother-in-law: William (Gail) Paffenroth, Jr.

A funeral service with Military Honors will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, March 25th, 2022 at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside, 100 Lake Pointe Dr. with Rev. Jeffrey Knoll officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Lake View Memorial Park.
