Gary L. Beyer, age 68, passed away on Saturday August 28, 2021, at Park View Health Center after a long courageous battle with sporadic Inclusion Body Myositis (sIBM). Gary was born to the late Clarence and Grace (West) Beyer on June 21, 1953, in Neenah, WI. After graduating from Neenah High School, Gary went on to attend the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, eventually receiving his MBA in Accounting and Finance. He spent his career as a controller at Morgan Door Company and later at Miles Kimball Company. Gary married the love of his life, Julie Lemke, on October 1, 1988, in Oshkosh. After he retired from his work in accounting, Gary and Julie started G & J Beyer Enterprises INC, selling air and water purifiers. After he was diagnosed with sIBM in 2008, Gary made it his mission to spread awareness about the disease that was affecting him. He began to write; eventually publishing three books about his struggle with sIBM. He and Julie would have many speaking events, radio, and TV interviews, as well as book signings to do their best to spread awareness.
Gary is survived by his loving wife, Julie, as well as his brother-in-law, Matt Lemke.
In addition to his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his brother, Doug (Shirley) Beyer, as well as his father and mother-in-law, Bill, and Joan Lemke.
A funeral service will be held at Konrad-Behlman Westside (100 Lake Pointe Dr) on Thursday September 2, 2021, at 11AM. Rev. Karen Jewel will be officiating. A visitation will be held from 9AM until the time of service. Masks are highly recommended. An entombment will take place at Lake View Memorial Park.
