Genevieve M. Boyce

Genevieve “Gen” Boyce, 93, passed away peacefully July 28, 2023, with her family by her side. She was born August 9, 1929, to the late Albert and Alvina (Sipple) Frank. Gen attended Sacred Heart school until ninth grade, after which she started working at Sunlite Ice Cream Shop. She later worked at Sabora’s Piggly Wiggly until she retired.

While growing up, Gen met Mike Boyce, as neighborhood kids. They married on June 15, 1957, which turned into 66 years of marriage and three sons.

She learned from her mom and aunts, of German descent, at an early age, how to make a potato a hundred different ways. From there, she discovered her love of baking. From cakes to cookies, pies to breads, Gen did it all. She was famous for her chocolate candy making at Christmas time but above all, she loved making cookies for her grandchildren for every holiday. Gen also enjoyed lottery scratchers, playing the piano, going to the casino, but most of all playing cards with the girls. She loved reading every recipe and her extensive collection of church cookbooks. She was a devoted catholic and loved to donate her time to Sacred Heart craft and bake sales.

Gen is survived by her husband, Mike; sons, Mike (Judy) Boyce, Scott (Anne) Boyce, Jari (Susan) Boyce; grandchildren, Nate (Marissa) Boyce, Matt (Katie) Boyce, Megan Boyce, Morgan (Ben) Berger; great grandchildren, Brady, Trace, Harper, Louella, Lillian; sisters-in-law, Joyce Frank, and Jane (Bob) Stenerson.

In addition to her parents, Gen was preceded in death by her sister, Alberta; brother, Ralph; numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and Tom Boyce, who was like a fourth son to her.

A funeral service will be held at St. Jude (Sacred Heart) Parish, 519 Knapp St. On August 5, 2023, at 12 PM. A visitation will be held from 10 AM until time of service. A private burial take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
