George William Luft

George W. Luft, 79, of Oshkosh died on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at University of Wisconsin Hospital, Madison. George was born on March 20, 1931 in Oshkosh the son of Adam and Anna Weitz Luft. He married June Hergert on January 31, 1957 in Oshkosh.Mr. Luft was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was retired from the U. S. Postal Service and was a member of the Postal Union. George served his country in the United States Air Force attaining the rank of Airman First Class serving in Alaska. He loved to work with wood and built houses and furniture. He enjoyed golf and could hit a really long drive. George also enjoyed fishing.Survivors include his wife, June of Oshkosh; daughter, Lori (Dan) Driscoll and their children Connor and Declan all of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada; two sisters, Kathy Jacobson of Winneconne, and Mary (Jim) Hahn of Milwaukee. George was also survived by uncle, Lawrencie and aunt, Lorraine; many nieces; nephews and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Harold Luft.A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 3, 2010 at 7:00 PM at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home (Westside) with the Rev. Jeffrey Knoll officiating. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM. Burial will be in Peace Lutheran Cemetery.A memorial has been established.
